Good morning gals!
I wanted to give an honest review of the Coola Self Tanner products after sharing all about them in my stories last week + share a few ways I like to make sure we are protecting our skin from burning all summer long! I was eager to try out these self-tanning products, because 1. I have been eyeing them and love the mindfulness of the ingredients they use in the products (organic, cruelty-free, non-GMO, paraben-free, and gluten-free!) and 2. I have watched/read great reviews on some of the products I have been eyeing, so I was excited to try them out for myself!
When I first got my Coola items, I tried the COOLA Organic Sunless Tan Luminizing Body Serum and used the COOLA Sunless Tan Kabuki Body Brush to blend in the serum. A few of my initial reactions to the serum were that it has a light shimmer to it when you put it on, it doesn’t have much of a self-tanner smell to it, and using the Kabuki brush was super easy! I was a little curious how well it would blend in compared to the 2-in-1 exfoliator and tanning mitt, since I’ve heard how great the mitt works, but I still wanted to give it a shot! It was very easy to use and the bristles on the Kabuki brush are so soft! I don’t do a lot of self-tanners, but for my first time using the product and this type of brush, it worked well overall! There was a spot under my knee caps and on the inside of my arms that I had missed, but my legs, tops of my arms, and my stomach blended in evenly, and I did not get any orangey coloring from using the Luminizing Body Serum, so I call that a win!
I only did one round of using the body serum, so the tan wasn’t super dark, and it faded in about a week and a half completely before trying out the COOLA Organic Sunless Tan Express Sculpting Mousse with the mitt! My initial thoughts on using the express mousse + mitt were that it was easier for me to tan more parts of my body using the mitt than the kabuki brush, had a little more of the tanner smell than the serum, didn’t have any shimmer to it, and started noticing the tan developing quicker than I did with the serum (hence the express part of its name!). Compared with the serum + brush, I think I liked the way the mousse + mitt turned out a little more. I still had a few spots I missed using the mitt – inside of the arms again (clearly the spot I need most practice on haha!), the tops of feet and a little on the top of my hands, but overall, I felt like the mitt did a little better job at getting the tan spread evenly over most of my body, and I could reach places like my back easier I felt with the mitt than the brush. One thing I think can make you accidentally overdo the amount with the mousse is that the mousse just looks like a white foam color. So, I would air on the side of less is more for the first time you do it, then do another round if you want it darker. I like that the Kabuki brush can also get the serum spread evenly, but it takes more time, and if you want to get to your harder to reach places like your back if you’re doing it on your own, this is more difficult to do with the brush!
Other products we are currently loving for when we are out enjoying the vitamin D on our warm + sunny spring days:
Classic Face Organic Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30 – Fragrance-Free
COOLA Suncare Mineral Face SPF 30 Sunscreen Matte Finish – I love that this has a BB cream to it! I wore it last week and it was SUPER light! I don’t wear any liquid bb creams/foundations aside from my Arbonne one if I wear one at all, because most of the others I’ve tried (yes even the It! Cosmetics CC cream one everyone loves) has always felt super thick to me. I am not a big face makeup gal in general, but the Arbonne one and now this COOLA Mineral sunscreen with BB cream are two I will wear when I want a little more of a finished look! I am really excited to use this one on my face all summer long.
COOLA Mineral Body Organic Sunscreen Spray SPF 30 | Cruelty-Free, Non-GMO, Gluten-Free, Paraben-Free
COOLA Mineral Body Organic Sunscreen Spray SPF 30 | Cruelty-Free, Non-GMO, Gluten-Free, Paraben-Free
These two spray SPFS will be used regularly on not only myself but for Collins too this summer. A few tips I like to do now that it’s getting warmer and sunnier out (slowly here in MN it seems!) I love throwing one of these spray sunscreens in my car during the summer with our frequent park dates or picnics we do with friends. I also keep a lotion sunscreen with me for Thomas and Collins that has an SPF 50, and I always have our hats ready in the car to put on, too.
Sunless tanners, SPF, spare hats in the car… we are ready for summer time sunshine… Burning (and wrinkling!) 😉 free!
