I wanted to share a little wellness Wednesday post today to share an updated post on how I like to use Vital Proteins supplements! That is a FAQ I often receive, so I figured this would help answer some of those questions for you! You might’ve seen me using my Vital Proteins products recently on my Instagram stories, @courtney.tracy , which I often use in my coffee and smoothies, but I wanted to share first, what Collagen Peptides are and why they benefit a person and second, an updated review of what I’ve been using, and how I’ve been using them in my daily routine!
In short- Collagen Peptides are amazing for your hair, skin, and nails, along with bones and joints, but I will let VP talk more about it here:
“Vital Proteins’ Collagen Peptides are easily digested and soluble in cold or hot liquids. Just one to two scoops per day, adding a scoop of Collagen Peptides to food or beverages give you the vitamin boost you need to support healthy hair, skin, nails, bone and joint health, digestion, muscle recovery, and more.” -Vital Proteins webpage.
Another commonly asked question I receive is if they’re safe to use while pregnant or nursing. As most supplements say on their packaging, contact your physician if you’re pregnant or nursing prior to using, so I would still check to be sure they are safe for you and your baby, but for me personally, I have used them daily since shortly after Collins was born, through all of our nursing for 16 months, and continued to use the daily recommended amount while I was pregnant with Thomas and now while we are nursing. Another reason why I love this brand- the ingredients are simple and derived straight from the quality source (cows!), so I have never had an issue with taking the products while nursing or being pregnant! Anyways, here is how I’ve been finding ways to add Collagen Peptides into my daily routine as of lately:
- Collagen Peptides– this is one of VP’s top-sellers and a very versatile product. It can virtually go into anything, hot or cold. It is odorless and tasteless. I use it in my Daily Harvest smoothies frequently, and also like adding it into my coffee every morning, but I also will add them into baking items like cookies, banana breads, brownies, protein pancakes, and also add them into no-bake energy bites, parfaits, and overnight oats!
- Collagen Beauty Water– this is another VP product I use all the time, and I LOVE adding this into my 8 oz. of water in the morning that I drink either before coffee or during breakfast. It’s a great way to get your water in right away in the morning while getting in your collagen peptides with hydration in mind! It is a great replacement for those sugar-filled packets you add in your water to help you drink water throughout the day, because it has ZERO sugar added. The strawberry-lemon flavor is my favorite, but I recently tried the Tropical Hibiscus flavor and like that one as well, but IMO, the Strawberry-Lemon seems to mix/dissolve better than the Tropical Hibiscus!
- Collagen Creamer + NEW Vital Proteins Coffee Beans!– I absolutely love their creamers for baking recipes. They make them creamer, and I have even used them as a replacement for products in recipes. They are perfect for overnight oats, also. The mocha flavor is by far my favorite, but I also like the vanilla one, too! I typically don’t put it into my coffee if you can believe that (or maybe you can if you know I drink black coffee!). They recently just started producing their own coffee beans, too, and the flavor of the beans is so delicious! The beans are a subscription program, so every month they have a new bean type and have them sent to your door! The first beans they made were the La Perla de Café beans, and they made a super bright and fruity brew! It reminded me of the La Minita blend from Caribou if you’ve ever had that when they carry it, and I loooove that blend, so I really liked the flavor of the VP beans! We still have a little bit left, but I usually only ground them up when I want a single cup… don’t want to run out of it too quick. 🙂
You can find way more info on all of these products Vital Proteins website, but overall I love these products and this specific brand mostly for their clean and simple ingredients. The cows they source their Collagen Peptides from are ALWAYS grass fed and pasture raised, and this is what matters the very most to me. All three of these products are also gluten free, dairy free, whole-30 approved, paleo friendly, AND have no sugar added. I highly recommend them to anyone trying to maintain an overall healthy lifestyle, including: a healthy gut for beauty on the inside and outside, healthy hair, skin, and nails, and healthy joints and bones especially for post workout recovery!
I hope this helps answer the questions you have regarding the products and how I use them. Happy Wellness Wednesday my friends!
